Olivia Le won the Poetry Ourselves creative writing contest for her original poem "My American Alphabet"


Olivia Le (CW, ’25) won Poetry Out Loud third place in the Poetry Ourselves State Champion for her original poem “My American Alphabet” and was invited to the State Capital to meet First Partner Jennifer Newsom for a program by CA Arts Council and Arts OC (awarded $100 plus expense paid to capital). She was also a finalist and runner up in the California Youth Poet Laureate. Her poem was also selected by the YoungArts for their Megafauna Land Dwellers Spring Exhibition. She also won second place in the Wrightwood Poetry Slam (awarded $200) and was runner up for the Poetry Week Contest from CommuterLit (awarded $25). In addition, her student letter to Danez Smith's poem was selected by the Academy of American Poets for the Dear Poet Program. Lastly, Olivia was Spoken Word opener for CA Poet Laureate Lee Herrick at his poetry reading in Newport Beach Public Library.
