Orange County School of the Arts Students Start 2024 with Another Extraordinary Lineup of Performances and Showcases

It’s a new semester and we’re so excited to see what  performances and showcases the  conservatories have lined up for Spring 2024! Check out the wide variety of upcoming showcases and performances below!

Film & Television’s 2024 Winter Cineplex: The Film & Television students will present their films, ranging from short comedies and dramas to web series, at this year’s Winter Cineplex! This event takes place Thursday, January 18 and Friday, January 19 at 7 p.m. at Chapman University’s Folino Theater in the Marion Knott Studios, located at 283 N. Cypress, Orange, CA 92866. This is a free event, but a reservation is required.

Visual Arts 7th and 8th Grade Exhibition: Beginning Thursday, January 18 artwork by the Visual Arts Conservatory middle school students will be on display in the The Newkirk Family Visual Arts Center Gallery. The show will conclude Thursday, February 1.

Popular Music Conservatory’s Becoming Electric: The Popular Music Conservatory is collaborating with Instrumental Music’s Garn Family Jazz Studies Program and Strings & Orchestra Program to deliver an electric performance. Celebrate the evolution of music from 1959 through 1979 with these talented student artists on Friday, January 19 and Saturday January 20 at 7 p.m. This event will take place in the Margaret A. Webb Theatre at the Center for the Arts, located at 801 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701.

Classical Voice’s A Kaleidoscope of Song: Classical Voice’s newest singers from grade 7 will present A Kaleidoscope of Song. The evening will include performances that explore love, light, and how each human being experiences life in a uniquely different way. The event will take place on Wednesday, January 31 in The Kathy & Gary Conrad Choral Room, located in the Dance, Music & Science Center at 906 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701.

Musical Theatre’s Side Show: Musical Theatre students will present a musical that tells the true story of Violet and Daisy Hilton, conjoined twins who took vaudeville by storm during The Great Depression. The twins' story is one of love and family that is sure to captivate audiences. The show runs from Thursday, February 1 through Saturday, February 10 at 7 p.m at the Scott & Charlotte Egan Studio Theatre, located at 1010 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701.

Integrated Arts’ 2024 Showcase: Integrated Arts Conservatory students will show off their multitude of talents in this entertaining variety show! Join them for this sensational performance from Thursday, February 1 through Saturday, February 3 in the Margaret A. Webb Theatre, located at 801 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701

The El-Erian Family Acting’s Mother Courage and Her Children: The El-Erian Family Acting Conservatory students are collaborating with the Popular Music Conservatory to present this adaptation by conservatory director John Walcutt of the Brecht classic play about war, resilience, and strength. These performances, featuring original music by Richard Kinsey, will begin on Thursday, February 8 and finish on Friday, February 16 and will take place in the Michael F. Harrah Symphony Hall, located at 920 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701.

The Garn Family Jazz Studies Program’s Big Band Dinner Dance: The Garn Family Jazz Studies Program presents the annual Big Band Dinner Dance Fundraiser! This event will get you up on your feet and ready to Lindy Hop with its award winning jazz ensembles’ performances. This fundraiser will take place on Friday, February 9 at 6 p.m. in the Albert & Miaad Bushala Event Center, located at 801 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701.

The Mekjian Family Culinary Arts & Hospitality’s Culinary Throwdown Elimination Round: Six teams will enter the kitchen to compete, and only two teams will move on to the Throwdown Finale in October of 2024! Don’t miss this exciting event taking place on Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m. in the Margaret A. Webb Theatre, located at 801 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701. Tickets for this event will include food bites and beverages!

OCSA’s Gala 2024: New York State of Mind: The OCSA Foundation will host its annual gala, complete with a glamorous cocktail reception, exciting live and virtual auctions, a gourmet meal, and an incredible performance by the school’s talented student artists.,  This prestigious fundraiser will take place on Saturday, April 27 at the Hyatt Huntington Beach Regency Resort and Spa.

OCSA’s Season Finale: Join us to celebrate the best moments of the 2023-2024 school year at OCSA’s annual Season Finale! This magical night highlights each and every one of the school’s arts conservatories and the amazing work of students. This event takes place Saturday, May 18 and  also pays special tribute to the senior class as they move on to the next chapter of their lives. Season Finale will take place at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, located at 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
