Board of Trustees FAQ

Agenda Overview

  • Closed Sessions
    Closed session meetings are not open to the public; however, the public may comment on the issues that the Board discusses in the closed sessions. Topics covered are related to litigation (existing or anticipated), labor negotiations, personnel matters, real estate negotiations, security/threats to public services or facilities, and student discipline (for legally permitted situations).

  • Committee Reports, Informational Items & Recognitions
    These items are for informational purposes only; no action is taken by the Board of Trustees.

  • Consent Calendar
    Contains items concerning normal/routine operations that require Board approval, but are not expected to require explanation or discussion.
  • Discussion Items
    Informational items, including staff or committee reports.

  • Action Items
    Items that require Board action.

  • Public Hearings
    Meetings to learn public opinion about a matter on which the Board may take action.

  • Public Comments
    Opportunities for the public to make comments on items within the jurisdiction of the Board of Trustees.

Types of Meetings

  • Regular Meetings
    Approved at the June Board of Trustees Meeting. Meetings are open to the public and are scheduled monthly to support the operational needs of the school.

  • Special Meetings
    Meetings are open to the public and scheduled if there is a need for the Board to meet outside of the time specified for a regular meeting.

  • Study Sessions & Workshops
    Scheduled only a few times each year to allow the Board and staff to informally discuss items in depth.
