In addition to the many conservatory events throughout the school year, Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) hosts special performances and grand events to showcase students' hard work and artistic talents. These are the special annual events meticulously prepared by our students, alumni, and staff that you should keep an eye out for.
Season Premiere
This year’s Season Premiere performance, hosted by Director of Musical Theatre and alumna Lauren Lim Jackson (CMD, ‘03), will kick off the school year with an exciting beachfront concert at sunset on Saturday, Sept. 10. The award-winning Ambassador Jazz Orchestra, which is part of The Garn Family Jazz Studies Program, will headline the magical evening under the stars featuring performances by OCSA’s incredible singers, dancers, and instrumentalists. The OCSA student performers will share the stage with accomplished alumni and renowned guest artists, including Wayne Bergeron, Lacey Bihari (BR, ‘17), Bernie Dresel, Gianna Pedregon (IM, ‘21), Eric Marienthal, Jamond McCoy, and John Swiger (BR, ‘17)

Performing with the Pros
Performing with the Pros is an amazing pre-professional performance opportunity for OCSA students to experience rehearsing and taking the stage with highly regarded industry professionals. Many Broadway stars, including Lindsay Mendez (MT, '00), Jessica Vosk, Jason Robert Brown, Liz Callaway, Susan Egan (MT, ’88), Eden Espinosa, Krysta Rodriguez (MT, '02), and Ali Stroker, have participated in this three-week artist-in-residence program in which the guest artist works with students to develop an premiere a fully staged production. OCSA students have the privilege of sharing the stage with these Broadway legends, as well as learn from their performance insights and critiques.
Gala 2023
Gala is OCSA’s largest, most prestigious fundraiser of the year! The OCSA Foundation hosts this annual themed gala that features spectacular student performances, talented guest and alumni artists, incredible silent and live auctions, and a gourmet dinner. All proceeds from the event contribute toward the $13 million needed annually to continue providing the school’s tuition-free, donation-dependent arts programs. This remarkable evening helps to support these young artists in reaching for their highest potential!
Season Finale
At the end of each year, OCSA presents a dynamic culminating event featuring a showcase of spectacular performances and presentations from the talented students in each of the art school’s conservatories. The entire OCSA community joins together in celebration of inspiring artistry and collaboration, and to support the next generation of artists and scholars. At this performance, you can expect to see students from all conservatories sharing the stage to demonstrate the accomplishments and artistic growth they have developed over the years. The performances are filled with diverse art disciplines such as singing, dancing, spoken poetry, visual arts, and more. This highly anticipated event also includes a reprise of the most-loved performances from the year’s events and special recognition of OCSA’s incredible parents, community partners, and alumni as recipients for Volunteer Awards.
