Admissions Process


The following is an overview of the Orange County School of the Arts admission process. For specific deadline dates please refer to the Admission Calendar.

APPLICATION PROCESS FOR 2017-2018

  1. Preview - Prospective students and parents are encouraged to learn more about our school by attending one of our Preview Day.

    1. Attend a Preview Day scheduled on a Saturday in October, November, or January.

    2. You may register for an upcoming Preview Day by clicking here: Register for Preview Day

  2. Submit online admission application including: Student information, conservatory application page(s), required documents, audition video and requested portfolios.

    1. You will be asked to create a new, applicant login. This login will only be used to submit and review an applicant’s online application.  Also, each application requires a unique email address.  All Admission information is communicated via the applicant account email.

    2. Required Document for all NEW applicants: A scanned copy of an official, birth certificate (Hospital and religious certificates do not qualify), or valid, non-expired, passport / visa, will be required to be uploaded to the application.  Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or legal residents must submit a Visa with F2 status if enrollment is offered in April. 

    3. Grade Reports for ALL application submissions - two (2) reports are required:

      • 7th - 9th grade applicants:  1) the most recently completed, final semester grades, and 2) a complete, up-to-date current progress report.
      • 10th - 12th grade applicants:  1) complete, current progress report grades and 2) complete high school transcripts.

    PLEASE SCAN ALL GRADE REPORTS TOGETHER AND SAVE AS ONE PDF DOCUMENT.

    If applying to a conservatory requiring audition portfolios and/or audition videos; these audition materials must be uploaded and included at the time the application is submitted.

    1. Incomplete applications and applications submitted with incorrect / incomplete grade reports will be delayed in processing.

    2. No guarantee of an interview-audition can be made for applications received after midnight, January 15, 2017. *Note: application must be submitted complete including all required documents and audition materials.

    3. Students that apply after January 15, 2017 will be scheduled into an interview-audition only if space is available.

    4. No applications will be accepted after 5:00 pm on May 30, 2017.

  3. Academic Review

    1. Grade reports are necessary for proper class placements.

    2. Applicants who submit complete grade reports and all required audition material will be scheduled into the first available interview-audition or will be approved to have their first-round audition materials reviewed by conservatory faculty.

  4. Interview-Audition Scheduling

    1. Qualified applicants will be scheduled into the first available interview-audition by the Admissions office.  Please monitor your applicant account for the interview-audition date, time and location.

    2. All interview-auditions will be conducted in January, February and March 2017.

    3. Once an interview-audition is scheduled, there can be no changes to the scheduled date or time.

  5. Admission Decision Notifications

    1. All interview-auditioned applicants will be notified, via email of admission decisions during the first week in April 2017.   Generally, all interview-audition space is full by early February and interview-auditions conclude in March. Opportunities for an interview-audition in late spring and summer are rare and are only scheduled if there is a conservatory need.

    2. Applicants may apply for admission to a maximum of 2 conservatories or programs. See Interview-Audition Requirements for further clarification.

    3. If you have applied to 2 conservatories or programs, and receive offers of enrollment for both, you must select one conservatory / program for enrollment.

    4. Applicants who are non U.S. citizens or legal residents must provide a Visa with F2 status for enrollment.
