About OCHSA's Pianist
Program |
| The Pianist Program offers advanced piano students
repertoire, skills, and technical and musical development as well as
performance opportunities. Students attend master classes and recitals
and interact with visiting guest artists such as award-winning pianist
David Benoit; internationally known soloists Christopher O’Riley,
Marino Formenti and Alpin Hong; Cal Arts professors Vicki Ray and Liam
Viney; and USC faculty members Antoinette Perry, Kevin Fitzgerald and
Alan Smith. |

About Patricia
Dobiesz, Coordinator, Pianist Program |
| Patricia Dobiesz, Assistant Director of Instrumental
Music; Coordinator, Pianist Program, received her masters of arts
degree in musicology in 2002. Her thesis on Richard Strauss’s “Metamorphosen”
received the Best Thesis, College of the Arts award at California
State University, Long Beach and is currently being read by renowned
biographers and musicologists for its elucidation of previously
unknown historical facts about the piece. Dobiesz earned an M.D.
degree at UCLA and worked for two years as a general practitioner
before leaving medicine to return to music full-time. She has taught
and performed as a pianist in the Long Beach area for many years. |
