Requirements for Academic Subjects
Applicants must hold a current
California Teaching Credential or an Emergency 30-Day Substitute
Teaching Permit to teach academic subjects at the Orange County High
School of the Arts. Contact the Orange County Department of
Education - Certificated Employment Office (714.966.4000) for
information regarding applying for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute
Teaching Permit.
To apply for a substitute teaching position at the Orange County

fingerprinting*
5. Proof of Tuberculosis clearance within the last four
years*

A California Teaching
Credential is not required of substitutes for elective or
arts conservatory classes; however, if you have a credential
or permit, please include copies with your application
packet. A bachelor’s degree is desirable and at least two
years of experience in the subject matter for which you are
applying. |

Substitute Pay
Substitute teacher pay for an academic class:
The daily rate for a substitute (sub) teacher covering an academic
class is $100/day for a full day (8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.). If a sub
teacher has an open first block or last block, the sub teacher is
required to check in with Jena Duca, Office Manager, Room 100, and
remain available/accountable throughout the day. After 10
consecutive days in the same classroom, the sub teacher’s rate
increases to $125/day beginning on the 11th day. When a sub teacher
is asked in advance to cover a long-term teaching assignment, the
sub teacher’s pay rate is $125 beginning on the first day and for
the duration of the assignment.
Substitute teacher pay for an
elective class:
Substitute teacher pay for an elective class is $25/hour, not to
exceed $100/academic day.
Substitute teacher pay for a
conservatory class:
Substitute teacher pay for conservatory classes is $25/hour, not to
exceed $68.75/conservatory day. |
