Applications - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline for applications for the 2008-2009 school year?
When would it be advisable to send in an application?
How quickly are your vacancies filled?

There is no specific deadline as we will continue to accept students as long as there are vacancies in the specific grade and conservatory.

When is the best time to apply?
Auditions are in February and March.  Applications must be approved by our academics department before an audition is scheduled. If your applicant is on the trimester system, send in the application at any time with the most recent trimester grades. If your applicant is on the semester system, don’t submit an application until you have received grades for 1st semester. We will notify applicants of our admission decisions on or about May 1st.

Can a student apply for more than one Conservatory?
Yes. The appropriate department form must be submitted with the application and the applicant must audition for each conservatory desired. A student accepted for more that one Conservatory must chose the one most desired.

When are the auditions? Is the audition schedule posted?
Auditions are scheduled when we have a sufficient number of applicants. You will be notified when the dates are determined.

Is it possible to arrange a tour of your school?
OCHSA Preview Days will be on Sunday, January 13 and Saturday, February 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. You will have a chance to get an overview of the academic and conservatory programs, to tour the school and meet with the Conservatory Directors.

OCHSA campus tours are offered on alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the spring semester, beginning Feburary 28.  Check the Master Calendar for dates and time.  For additional information and to make an appointment for a tour, please call 714-560-0900 ext. 4416 or e-mail idd@ocsarts.net.

Students are accepted as long as there are vacancies in the specific grade and conservatory and all application and audition requirements are met.

What level of ability is required to be considered for your school? Must they be child progidies?

Please see our audition requirements to get an idea of what is expected. The admissions
process is competitive and acceptance is primarily based on the audition results.
